Music and Change!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/americanfashions.weebly.com\/uploads\/3\/0\/1\/2\/30124327\/407856.jpg\" \/>That was the last time we stayed up all night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">\u201cOh my God!\u00a0 Can you believe she wore that?\u201d\u00a0 I exclaimed, walking down the crowded street.\u00a0 \u201cThat would be the last thing I would want to wear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">\u201cYeah, well, with a body like that, I would wear it too.\u201d\u00a0 My best friend was always saying how she wanted to have a body that would be killer in anything other than what she was wearing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">We walked the next couple of blocks to the train and noticed the rain started falling as we got to the platform.<\/p>\n<div>What a night!\u00a0 It was a struggle getting into the disco, but we managed to get in, just as the music started to play.\u00a0 The crowd was already on the dance floor and the music was taking on a new vibe.\u00a0 Sue and I had never heard some of it before and we were thinking that maybe we should have waited and gone somewhere else.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">Elvis had just passed away in August and the world thought it would end without his music.\u00a0 We were young, seeking something different, watching, and waiting to see who the next \u201cbig\u201d thing would be. \u00a0I couldn\u2019t understand why someone so young, full of life, ambition, and charisma, was gone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">Anyway, we got on the train and sat back exhausted from dancing all night.\u00a0 It didn\u2019t matter that we didn\u2019t have dates, we enjoyed dancing and that was what tonight was all about.\u00a0 Saturday nights, freedom from parents, restrictions, our menial, part-time jobs, and we had time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">Hours earlier<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">\u201cI don\u2019t want to stand here forever.\u00a0 What if we say, by 9 pm, if we don\u2019t make it in, we go downtown to that new place?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">\u201cLet\u2019s wait.\u00a0 We are so close to walking through that door.\u201d\u00a0 Sue was always wanting to wait, wait, wait.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">\u201cOk, Fine.\u201d\u00a0 I lit a cigarette and puffed away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">\u201cWe are in!!\u00a0 I can\u2019t believe we are here.\u201d\u00a0 Pushing her way through the crowd we find an open spot against a wall and watch.\u00a0\u00a0 The dancers on the floor weren\u2019t coupled up, but dancing in lines and large groups.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">\u201cWhat are they doing?\u201d\u00a0 I asked as I watched them swinging their hips, taking large, sweeping steps, and pointing to the ceiling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">\u201cOh, that?\u00a0 It\u2019s all the new craze, man.\u00a0 That new movie, what was it, oh, yeah, Saturday Night Fever, had some new stuff in it and everybody is doing it!\u201d\u00a0 A tall, red-haired, freckled guy next to me explained what I was watching.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">I smiled and said thanks.\u00a0 Sue and I didn\u2019t waste time.\u00a0 We slid right in and joined the fun!\u00a0 And boy, was it fun!\u00a0 December 31, 1977, was a night to remember. \u00a0The end of something old, a start to something new, and the time of our lives.\u00a0 \u00a0Did I mention that was the last time we stayed up all night?<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">December 31, 2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">Elvis has been gone 42 years, the Bee Gees still get played, Star Wars has enough movies to be played by several generations that it will never be forgotten, and the beloved John Travolta will forever be dancing in that white suit pointing to the sky in Saturday Night Fever.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1474827002ydpf8aa4442MsoNormal\">Sue and I keep in touch via Facebook and a few chance meetings.\u00a0 We don\u2019t stay up late anymore \u2013 those days are gone.\u00a0 Things have changed so much &#8211;
